David Woolwine

david.woolwine{at}hofstra.edu

Leon Kass's The Beginning of Wisdom is given a close reading. Kass's treatment of heterosexuality and patriarchy is analyzed. It is shown that Kass's interpretation of the biblical text involves contradictions as well as the importation of viewpoints foreign to the authors of Genesis.

Key Words: Straussianism • Genesis • heterosexuality • homosexuality • patriarchy
